My WordPress site became extremely slow overnight. What happened?

I run a small blog on WordPress and yesterday everything was fine. Today when I checked, pages are taking 10+ seconds to load. I didn't install any new plugins or change anything. My hosting is shared hosting with Bluehost. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm losing visitors fast.

This is super frustrating but it happens more often than you'd think. First thing I'd do is check if a plugin updated overnight and broke something. Go to your WordPress dashboard, check Plugins, and look for any that were updated recently. Try deactivating them one by one to see if speed comes back.

Second, check your database. WordPress databases get bloated over time, especially with plugins like WooCommerce or contact forms. Use a plugin like WP-Optimize to clean up post revisions, spam comments, and transients.

Third, your hosting might be the issue. Shared hosting can slow down if another site on the same server is using too many resources. Check your Bluehost server health or consider upgrading to a VPS if this keeps happening.

Also, install a caching plugin like WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache if you haven't already. Finally, run a speed test on GTmetrix or PageSpeed Insights to pinpoint exactly what's causing the slowdown. It's usually a combination of unoptimized images, too many plugins, or database bloat.
