What is the exact scientific cause of the ocean tides on earth?
Why does ocean water rise and fall twice a day across the planet? Is it entirely driven by the moon, or does solar radiation play a role?

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of both the moon and the sun combined with the rotation of Earth. The moon pull creates a tidal bulge on the closest and opposite sides of the planet.
