What is the structural difference between a domain name registry, a registrar, and a registrant?
When I purchase a brandable domain name from Namecheap, who actually owns the master ledger registry, and what is my legal status as an online entrepreneur?

The Registry is the master database entity managing the TLD (like Verisign for .com). The Registrar is the retail store platform selling the access (Namecheap). The Registrant is you, the temporary lessee.
