Why am I always tired even after sleeping 8 hours?
I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night but I wake up feeling like I got 2 hours. I'm 34, not overweight, and I exercise 3 times a week. I drink coffee by 10 AM but still crash by 2 PM every day. What could be causing this?

Sleeping 8 hours doesn't automatically mean you're getting quality sleep. There are a few things that could be wrecking your sleep quality without you realizing it. First, check your sleep environment. Is your room completely dark? Even a small LED light can disrupt deep sleep. Is it cool enough? Ideal sleeping temp is 65-68°F.
Second, look at what you're eating. If you eat a heavy meal within 2-3 hours of bed, your body is busy digesting instead of resting. Also, alcohol destroys sleep quality even if it helps you fall asleep. You might not remember waking up, but you're not getting restorative REM sleep.
Third, consider sleep apnea. It's way more common than people think, especially in men. If you snore or wake up with a dry mouth, get tested. Untreated sleep apnea means you're never actually reaching deep sleep.
Finally, check your iron and vitamin D levels. Both deficiencies cause chronic fatigue even in healthy people. A simple blood test can rule this out. Start with these before assuming it's just "life being exhausting."
