Why do backyard garden plant leaves develop a pale sickly yellow color when the soil is kept continuously wet?

I am watering my container potted pepper plants every single day to ensure they grow fast but all the lower main leaves have turned bright yellow and growth has stalled. Am I overwatering them?

Yes, this is a classic symptom of root suffocation and chlorosis. Plant roots require active oxygen pockets inside the soil matrix to absorb vital nutrients. Continuous overwatering floods these air pockets drowning the roots causing them to rot and fail which stops nitrogen uptake transforming leaves yellow.
